Submissions Open for Prisma Fine Art and Design Club’s Annual Student Art Book

As the first quarter of the semester comes to a close, WCSU’s Prisma Fine Art & Design Club prepares production on their annual student art book. Submissions are open until midnight on March 4th. Visual art of any kind, such as paintings, drawings, and photographs, are all eligible to be submitted. As long as it’s able to be scanned or photographed, it will be considered.

The title and theme for this year’s book is ‘Serendipity’, so artists and submitters are challenged to portray this feeling within their pieces. The book aims to highlight the work of artists on campus, as submissions are open to everyone; you do not need to be a member of the club or an art major to submit. This offers opportunities to artists of all skill levels to potentially have their work published and add to their resume.

“With the theme of ‘Serendipity’, it leaves a lot to the imagination,” says Cayden Nadolny-Pallatto, President of Prisma. “Everyone has a completely different definition of Serendipity. Anyone can look at anything in that light and have a unique reaction or perception of it. That uniqueness is exactly what we’re trying to illustrate in this book.”

Nadolny-Pallatto explains that the club focuses less on shelling out an art book each year, but instead on emphasizing the community aspect of the creative process along the way. Prisma allows these artists to come together and work on their pieces while being able to receive feedback and critiques from their peers, creating a productive and supportive artistic environment.

“While a major goal of the club is to make a book about student works,” continues Nadolny-Pallatto. “What it has turned into is a group of people who meet up to hang out and create art together without any expectations or limits.”

The club meets every other Wednesday at 6:00 in room 146 in the VPAC. Submissions for the ‘Serendipity’ Prisma book close at midnight on March 4th. To submit your work or learn more about the book or club, email nadolnypallatto001@wcsu.edu.
