On Sunday the 17th, residents of Centennial Hall were evacuated from the building after a broken sprinkler head caused mass flooding in the east wing of the hall. Students were brought to the Pinney Hall lounge to wait out the clearing of the building, which lasted roughly from 3:30 to 5:15 AM, though residents with suites directly impacted by the flooding were kept from their rooms until much later.
During this extended evacuation, one resident affected by the flooding discovered upon returning to his room that some of his property had been stolen, including a Sony PlayStation 4, and two PS4 controllers. The PlayStation also contained his financial information, which the perpetrator used to purchase two games valued over $200.
At the time of this article, on campus police do not have any new updates on the incident, with the investigation still ongoing. If you or anyone you know have also had items stolen during the incident, please contact long041@wcsu.edu.
