Tomorrow February 10th, the Western Connecticut State University women’s basketball team will be looking to find victory against state rivals Eastern Connecticut State University at the O’Neil Athletic Center.
The Colonials are going into this game with a bought of confidence off their win against the UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs last Saturday afternoon after being behind for the first half of the game. This result left their overall record at 15-6.
The Eastern Warriors are also coming into this match confident after winning their previous match against Plymouth State 76-46. The win brought them to an overall record of 16-5.
This will be the second time these two teams face off this season. They met back in January at Eastern. The game ended in victory for the Warriors by a score line of 68-53.
Jill Ritrosky played a major role in the victory for the Warriors with 23 points and nine rebounds in the match. It’s a sure thing that the Colonials will try and shut her down this game knowing the threat that she is on the attack.
The Colonials also had one of their own score in double digits despite not being able to beat the Warriors. Junior guard Emily Dobson scored an astounding 17 points for the colonials.
Dobson has proved to be a key player for the Colonials this season always showing up big on the score sheet. With a current PPG of 12.9 the Colonials will surely be looking to get Dobson behind the ball as much as possible.
With home court advantage the Colonials will be looking to extend their overall record to 16-6 but it will not be easy. They are playing a team that is identical to them on paper and they need to show up big to get a big win.
